A Warning to Potential Candidates

This company just asked me for additional information after embarrassing the *** out of me and wasting my time. They were rude, unprofessional and disorganized. Just a bunch of *** hats.

Original review Jan 03, 2025
This is an incredibly disorganized employment agency. They set me up with a law firm in Chicago, that I interviewed with, and that offered me a position. I accepted and got a start date. After I accepted the position, Robert Half said "Great! Now all we need to do is your background check!" Several things here:
1) Why the *** wouldn't you do that first?
2) I was fully transparent with you for years about my background
3) I am justice-impacted after a property crime when I was younger - literally 15 years ago
4) I would go all in, Texas Hold-em style, that I am more qualified in my profession than 90% of the other people in the field. I have decades of experience and nothing but good rapport with every firm I have ever worked with.
5) Their background check company sucks and couldn't produce a report for over two months. When the report came back, it was laughably anemic.
6) They sent me an email saying that they won't hire me because they find my background objectionable and that it reflects a questionable character.
Here's the thing, folks: I messed up when I was a lot younger, served my time, and spend every waking hour paying society back with the rest of my life. I volunteer, teach classes, serve my community... I do it because I am a reformed person like the 77-100 million adult Americans like myself, with criminal records, who just want to work and be productive. I find Robert Half's procedural policy of conducting a background check after having a candidate interview and accept an offer of employment unprofessional to say the least. They embarrassed me, delayed the process by months when they used a background check company that is clearly not qualified, and then sent me an email telling me that I am basically substandard and tarnished. To *** with Robert Half. They are an unethical organization that should be ashamed of the way they conduct business.

They aren't in business to help people find jobs. Their services are free to you.

They make their money from their clients, i.e. the companies who sign contracts with them to handle their hiring needs. A lot of people mistakenly believe that a staffing agency's role is to find you a job.

It's not. Their role is to find the best people possible for their clients.

They suck. Never have I been treated so rudely.

I email 3-4 of their recruiters every week and say I am checking in, a reply would be greatly appreciated. No reply ever, they just ghost you.

They have jobs, I dont. I have a lot of great experience and deserve to be treated better, after all if it wasnt for us candidates they couldnt fill jobs.

I kept telling these people I wanted a permanent position, and all they kept putting me on were temp jobs that lasted a few months. I was just keeping the seat warm for the permanent person.

The last position the company wanted to hire me, and Robert Half gave such an astronomical amount the company hired through their website.

Two good jobs gone because of these losers. Situations like this are what lawyers are for.

You were hired (I am assuming you were hired at an hourly wage or salary) and completed new hire paperwork and accepted their employment offer. What is your job title? Are they not paying you?

Horrid experience with this staffing company. The recruiters are miserable d**ks who will waste your time on the phone and play stupid psychological games.

Absolute garbage.

Do not schedule an appointment as it will go nowhere. They just need to match a quota of daily visits.

Yes I just experienced a horrible experience with them. Long story short I killed the interview, Direct company had me ready with onboarding and everything.

My recruiter *** up my ssn and email in their "new system" and kept saying I was the first to go in. BS!! so 2 weeks went by as her "lead" or supervisor was on VACATION and got back the day before the fingerprints had to be in. I kept asking themt o show proof of what email they used and why was my SSN WRONG??????

no comments...... I complained and then the branch manager called me and said sorry time expired... ...... No dude your company is about to expire due to bad ratings all over social median and Im putting in a BBB complaint as well.

She did confess on the phone which I need to get that tracked and hopefully it was recorded she messed up my SSN then delaying my fingerprint schedule, andonce that was finally fixed day before expire they had 4, YES 4 email in the system to give them that were ALLLLL WRONG except one and that one they didnt send me a code to sign up!!!!! Ridiculous !! So I had to do their work for them.... I called the fingerprint company and talked to a very smart dude who said " yup they have 3 weird emails in here that are incorrect that you confirmed with me" I said WOWWWWW, now they are not returning "OUr" emails or calls since I c.C.

everyone from the fingerprint company on the last email confirming they MESSED UP the process!!!! You are so right about meeting their deadlines..Time to blast their bad business all over social media!!!! They are the ranked #1 in the world...

WHY ??? They are very unprofessional when it comes to TECHNOLOGY AND RECRUITMENTS PROCEDURES.

Working with Samuel Gennaro and Amy Adler has been a pleasure, They are professional, informative and pleasant. Until dealing with them I have not had a good experience with Robert Half.

I hesitated using the agency again. They deserve recognition from their boss.

To warn others before falling for their scam

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

In April 2020, I submitted my resume to RH and was contacted by them concerning a position that would easily fit into my wheelhouse. They scheduled an interview, and I was told shortly afterward that I had gotten the job.

They began the on-boarding process and I followed the steps they requested without delay. I completed all the paperwork, went for the drug screen, agreed to a background check, etc and I kept checking back with them to ensure there was nothing I was missing. This job was important to me because of the economic crisis and desperate need for employment. I have the emails stating they weren't waiting on anything from me; they were doing things on their end.

In late June, I was told about a hiccup concerning my SSN card and I needed to provide a copy of my card even though that was not required during the entire process until now. I jumped through the hoops and even obtained a verification letter from the social security office. I was told by RH and the company who was hiring me, that it was accepted and that they were just finishing up my profile. The next day after being told everything was accepted, I received an email from RH saying I hadn't been cleared in time to begin the position!!

It was now late June and I interviewed in April; they were just now telling me I had not been cleared!! They assured me they would find another position, blah blah blah. Instead, other people started sending me emails as if I was going to be starting the job they said I hadn't been cleared for which clearly indicated a major lack in communication. When I inquired as to why I was getting the contradictory emails, they said they were sent in error.

I still get emails asking if i am looking for work but nothing was done to correct their mistake which they admitted to in writing. They still have not done what they said they would do which was correct the situation.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!! THEY ARE A COMPLETE SHAM WITH NO INTEREST IN PROFESSIONALISM OR FINDING YOU A JOB!!

Unsatisfied with the overall hiring process

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

A recruiter from Robert Half found my resume on Indeed and had reached out to me. Inquiring if I would be interested in a Management position.

They were looking to fill a few openings for the project Manager for Chase Bank call center work remotely a nine-month contract.

The fulfillment of everything that was expected of me was completed. Well, after waiting for a period of 3 long months I was offered the position. The whole onboarding process was hectic. They requested a lot of documents to be signed (contract).

HR and the recruiter were not on the same page. However, the recruiter was nice and really tried to keep me updated with much information he was given. But still, he couldn't give me an exact hired date.

After waiting patiently for about 5 months I was starting to speculate this was all a scam. In the end, I was informed by the recruiter that “Chase” overbooked the Team Leads position for the role and didn't have an available spot for me to start.

Had I not called them I think I could have been still waiting for the outcome?

The whole process was weird. And then knowing the fact that I was not going to move forward they kept sending me emails with notifications with requests to fill out an I-9 form in which made me confused if maybe there could have been a mistake and hoping I had the job after all. So I needed clarification from HR but, yet I never receive a call from them only a simple email confirming that the position had already been filled and an apology. However, I did receive a phone call from the recruiter expressing an apology for wasting my time.

I think what upsets me the most is that I even passed by another job opportunity because they had my total commitment to them.

The overall experience was horrible. I do not recommend you do employment with this company.
